The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists that a full closure of Central Florida Parkway under I-4 is scheduled for the early morning hours of Monday, March 10.

The closure is scheduled to start as soon as 1:00 a.m. on Monday and reopen by 5:00 a.m. This closure is necessary for overhead bridge demolition.

Drivers heading westbound on Central Florida Parkway who wish to access Palm Parkway/Turkey Lake Road should turn left onto Westwood Boulevard, then proceed south to turn right onto International Drive, before turning right again onto Daryl Carter Parkway. From there, drivers can proceed west to access Palm Parkway.

Drivers who wish to head eastbound on Central Florida Parkway should instead proceed south on Palm Parkway and turn left onto Daryl Carter Parkway, continuing east before turning left onto northbound International Drive. From there, motorists can turn left onto Westwood Boulevard, continuing west and then north to access Central Florida Parkway.

Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

This work is part of the improvement project at the I-4 and Sand Lake Road (State Road (S.R.) 482) interchange. Crews are reconstructing the interchange as a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). The project is reconfiguring and lengthening ramps at the interchange and improving capacity on Sand Lake Road and Turkey Lake Road. A new loop ramp will replace the existing left turns from westbound Sand Lake Road to southbound Turkey Lake Road. Motorists will also be able to bypass Sand Lake Road and exit I-4 directly to Turkey Lake Road on the new ramp system.

In addition, the project includes reconstructing the I-4 general use lanes from the end of the I-4 Ultimate project at Kirkman Road (S.R. 435) to west of Sand Lake Road. Crews are constructing two barrier-separated westbound I-4 Express lanes from the existing express lanes near Kirkman Road to west of Sand Lake Road. These lanes will transition to a single, buffer-separated express lane in the westbound direction from west of Sand Lake Road and tie in just west of Central Florida Parkway. This express lane extension will be constructed in three separate projects, with the finished lane stretching from west of Sand Lake Road to west of World Center Drive (S.R. 536).

Construction on the project began in spring 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2027.
