The Florida Department of Transportation reports that, beginning at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 to 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, the southbound I-275 ramp (Exit 45B) to eastbound I-4 to temporarily close, weather permitting.
During this ramp closure, motorists will detour around the work zone by continuing south on I-275, exiting the interstate using Jefferson Street (Exit 45A), keeping left at fork, and following signs for Downtown East, left onto Scott Street to re-enter the interstate using the northbound I-275 entrance ramp to access eastbound I-4 (Exit 45B).
Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will assist motorists traveling through the area. Motorists should expect delays and congestion during this detour.
This closure is necessary as crews perform construction activities as part of the I-275 Capacity Improvements project. The $85.3 million project is adding one lane in each direction to I-275 from north of I-4 to north of Hillsborough Avenue (US 92) using the existing right-of-way. This project is expected to finish in 2026.
