Motorists should be advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing a nighttime road closure of the eastbound I-4 roadway under the bridge to the eastbound Beachline Expressway (State Road (S.R.) 528) overnight on Wednesday, August 7.

The closure is expected to begin as early as 10:00 p.m. and is expected to reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning. The closure is necessary for crews to move a crane into the work zone for further pile driving work as part of the S.R. 528 ramp widening project.

During the closure, motorists who wish to travel on eastbound I-4 must follow detour signs and take Exit 72 onto the eastbound Beachline Expressway, proceeding to Exit 1 (International Drive). From the exit ramp, motorists will turn right onto International Drive and take the loop ramp onto westbound Beachline Expressway, then take the exit to return to eastbound I-4.

FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The S.R. 528 ramp improvements project will add capacity to the I-4 westbound ramp to eastbound S.R. 528 by widening the ramp from one to two lanes.

The project began in January 2024 and is anticipated to reach completion in 2026.
