The Florida Department of Transportation reports that a new westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) on-ramp from westbound Colonial Drive (State Road 50) is scheduled to be ready for morning commuters on Monday, October 15.
The new on-ramp at the I-4 and Colonial Drive interchange will require motorists traveling westbound on Colonial Drive from Orange Avenue to be in the left lane, instead of the right. Motorists will need to pass through a traffic signal and turn left to access westbound I-4 or Hughey Avenue.
Before entering westbound I-4, the new ramp will diverge, giving motorists a choice of continuing toward westbound I-4 or to southbound Hughey Avenue. The new westbound I-4 ramp will only be accessible for westbound Colonial Drive traffic.
To make the shift from the old loop ramp to the new ramp, Colonial Drive is scheduled between Orange Avenue and Hughey Avenue from 10 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, until 5 a.m. on Monday, October 15.
Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
