The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that temporary closures of the westbound I-4 entrance and exit ramps for SR 39 (Alexander Street) and SR 39A (Wheeler Street/Paul Buchman Highway) will occur this weekend from 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 21 to 5:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, weather permitting.
Westbound I-4 motorists needing to access SR 39A (Wheeler Street/Paul Buchman Highway) will have to exit the interstate at Exit 22, turn right onto Park Road, turn left onto North Frontage Road, continue along North Frontage Road under the I-4 overpass to South Frontage Road, and proceed onto SR 39A (Wheeler Road/Paul Buchman Highway).
Motorists needing to access westbound I-4 from SR 39 (Alexander Street) or SR 39A (Wheeler Street/Paul Buchman Highway) will enter the interstate using the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp, exit the interstate via Exit 21, turn left onto Park Road, and re-enter the interstate using the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.
Electronic message boards and signage will assist motorists traveling through the area. Motorists should use caution while driving through each work zone and remain alert for construction workers.
These temporary ramp closures are necessary for crews to perform paving operations and overhead sign installation for the I-4 repaving project from east of McIntosh Road to County Line Road in Hillsborough County.
