The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has just opened a much-needed lane on Interstate 4 between exit 60 (FL 429) and exit 58 (FL 532) in Championsgate.
The new westbound lane was added to accommodate traffic exiting the highway for Championsgate. This location has been a notorious traffic bottleneck for I-4 motorists for years as development in the area has overwhelmed the highway’s original design capacity. Early reports from motorists who frequent the exit have been positive.

The opening of this new westbound lane is in addition to completion of a new “Diverging Diamond Interchange” (DDI) at exit 58 (Championsgate), as well as added I-4 lanes eastbound in the same area.
While additional work remains to be completed, this most recent opening will hopefully go a long way in addressing I-4 traffic headaches in the area.
