Tampa’s new I-4 Connector opened to traffic today.

The Interstate 4 – Selmon Expressway Connector is a limited-access, elevated toll road that connects the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway to Interstate 4. The highway is designed to safely filter hazardous cargo away from Ybor City and into the Port of Tampa. The connector project is being coordinated by a partnership between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida’s Turnpike, and the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA).

The $400 million construction project took 4 years to build. Landscaping, and other associated roadwork will continue over the next year.
